Steven S. Long (also credited as just Steven Long) is a well known RPG designer, in the business since the early 1990s. He has written well over seventy RPG products since then. Before becoming a full-time writer, he was a practicing lawyer in North Carolina.

His early work was done for Hero Games for their “Hero Systems” books, White Wolf for Vampire: The Masquerade (and spinoff) works, and Pinnacle Entertainment Group’s Deadlands series.

He is one of the prime system designers and authors of the Last Unicorn Games Star Trek roleplaying game series. When Last Unicorn Games was purchased by Wizards of the Coast, he helped design the Wheel of Time RPG for them before moving on to Decipher to be a prime developer and author for their Star Trek and Lord of the Rings roleplaying games.

Since then, he has returned to Hero Games as a prime designer and author for the 5th edition of their Hero System game.
