Data is a self-aware and fully functional android built by Doctor Noonien Soong. As the first and only kind ever to enter Starfleet, Data was placed as the Lientenant Commander aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise-D and U.S.S. Enterprise-E. He had incredible strength and intelligence, far superior to that of any organic or cybernetic humanoid, and has high resistance to diseases, radiation, oxygen deprivation and mind control. Data was a crucial member to the survival of the starship on its missions and explorations.
