Carey Millsap-Spears is a poet, writer, professor, and scholar who is the author of Star Trek Discovery and the Female Gothic and contributor to Set Phasers to Teach!: Star Trek in Research and Teaching, The Routledge Handbook of Star Trek and Strange Novel Worlds.

She is a professor of Communications/Literature at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, Illinois with research interests of Gothic studies and popular culture.
